Natural light photography of life in Asia by Vichaya Pop

October 7, 2014

“Water buffalo”

Vichaya Pop‘s images offer a unique experience of exploring Asia from a local’s point of view. Pictures taken in his hometown Bangkok, as well as North Thailand or Myanmar, always have a sense of spontaneity and freedom, hard to achieve if you’re just a tourist in these places.  All of Vichaya’s pictures are taken using only natural light, even though the result often looks like a studio shot. Intimacy, simple rural life and beautiful light are the main ingredients of Vichaya Pop‘s photography, which you can enjoy below.

“The young riding monk”

“Long neck Karen”

“Masks and Puppets”

“Sleepy novice”

“Up up up and away”

White Temple in Thailand looks like your wildest dreams… or nightmares

September 2, 2014

Wat Rong Khun, commonly known as White Temple is a contemporary buddhist temple in Thailand. Designed by Chalermchai Kositpipat and being continuously built since 1997, it attracts tourists from around the world with its ornate sculptures inspired by… sci-fi, pop culture and fairytales.

The complex was severely damaged by an earthquake in May 2014 and closed indefinitely. Kositpipat even wanted his life’s work demolished, but then decided to rebuild White Temple, so if you happen to visit Thailand in two years, it might be ready.

The creepy hands begging to escape from hell and other intricate sculptures sure made an impression on me… Scroll to see some of the amazing White Temple photos I’ve found.
